Dear Fellow Wine and Food Enthusiasts,
Since 1971, the IW&FS Toronto Branch has been promoting a broad knowledge and understanding of both wine and food while cultivating camaraderie among those who share the pleasures of the table.
Over the past year we have had some wonderful events that we hope everyone has enjoyed. Coupled with all of these were excellent wines from our cellar, and perfect wine matching courtesy of Marcel Bregstein.
We invite you to continue enjoying the benefits of IW&FS Toronto and the events that your board is planning for 2017/18 by renewing your membership.
This year, for the first time in many, we have increased our annual dues to reflect the cost of the IWFS wine cellar in a new location. We are grateful to Gerry O’Connor for allowing IWFS to use space in his building to keep our cellar without charge for many years. Guida Fernandes has also graciously provided support during that time. As always, we are committed to provide interesting, informative and high quality events at the lowest cost we can.
Our wine cellar allows us to buy good wine at the best price and provide our own ageing in a controlled environment supervised by our excellent Cellar Master.
The membership renewal fees for 2017 are:
Renewal Single Membership:
Annual dues $125.00 + Wine cellar contribution $120.00 = $245
Renewal Joint Membership:
Annual dues $150.00 + Wine cellar contribution $195.00 = $345
We ask you to remit your payment as soon as possible to have everyone registered for the upcoming year with IWFS Americas.
For your convenience you can renew though PayPal at our web site: Membership Renewal/Application scroll down the page for payment. Otherwise, please send your cheque payable to IW&FS Toronto Branch to:

Foundation Scholarship Programme 2017 Appeal
Dear IWFS Members,
The Foundation’s Scholarship program, active since 1982, has been presenting scholarships to the top graduates in the top hospitality schools in or near each of the cities in which we have Canadian branches.
The Toronto Branch Members have taken on the responsibility for two foundation scholarships, one for the top graduate from the Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers and the other for the top graduate in The Culinary Management course at George Brown College.
While the society as a whole subsidizes each of these scholarships by $200 the balance of the budgeted cost has to be raised by each branch locally. The budgeted cost for our two scholarships is $1800. After deducting our $400 in subsidies our members must raise $1400. I am sure that you will agree with me that we, as gastronomes, are very fortunate to have these very bright young Canadians choosing to seek a career in a field all of us hold close to our hearts.
The link to the web site below allows you to choose the amount of your foundation donation and have it processed through PayPal. You may also pay by cheque. The donations will be collected by Toronto branch, turned over to the foundation and you, in turn, will receive a tax receipt.
Yours very truly,
Douglas Colbourne President,
The International Wine and Food Foundation of Canada
