IWFS & BAO Restaurant, 270 Spadina Avenue 6:30PM

The Evening was very different and that is what the IWFS Toronto is all about. Matching food and wine, not an easy task with a Chinese dinner. Rob and Beverly did an amazing job. We were tasked with selecting which one was the best. I thought they were all good.

Here is a pictorial history of the event.

Food and wine pairing has never been so technicolored. Moreover, our international travel takes us to destinations with cuisines we may not explore at home on a regular basis. Let’s not forget that the experience of living in a cosmopolitan city is that dining has reached a bevy of fusion-inspired restaurants that take inference from international cuisines.

With the epicurean reality of today in mind, we’re embarking on taking you on a pairing exploration at Bao Restaurant.

Bao is a modern offshoot of a legendary Chinese brand, Goubuli, which dates back to 1858. The restaurant’s roots are cherished and acclaimed by many.

Our approach at this pairing dinner will be slightly unusual but fun, and perhaps you’ll learn something new about your palate.

We’re going to pour you five wines, which you will have in front of you for all of dishes. Bao’s menu on our night is a journey in culinary arts with a delightful tapestry of flavours and aromas. You get to tell us which of these wines would be your go to at your next Bao and or Goubuli experience.

*All of the wines will be vetted for the best alignment with the flavours, weight, and texture of the food items from the Bao menu. Each will have a precise and suited home in the tasting.
